But there’s also a Super Nintendo/Famicom version (which I’ll refer to as SNES from here on) known as Castlevania: Dracula X, which was more of a reimagining. Rondo was given a remake for PSP, though whether it’s better or worse than the original is the subject of intense debate - one somewhat reignited with the recent rerelease of the localized original game on PlayStation 4 through the Castlevania Requiem digital pack, which also includes Symphony of the Night. There was a time when import games that never received official releases outside Japan were always held in high regard regardless of their actual quality, but this one actually delivers.īut there are also two other versions of Rondo worth acknowledging, even if their quality arguably isn’t on par with the original. ![]() The original game released on PC Engine, a title deservedly regarded as one of the best classic-style Castlevania games in the series - if not the best game in the franchise overall. The first game likely has the longest history thanks to the sheer number of iterations there are, but Rondo of Blood’s is a close second. There are several Castlevania games whose port and remake legacies make for interesting stories.
